Earlier this year Ana Rudkovska, founder of Concord Alumni Sustainability Circle, approached us with an exciting proposal which would draw on the combined experience of the Circle members to benefit and inspire Concord's students.
The Circle is made up of a group of 43 Concord alumni (so far) in a range of careers or degree courses, and with an mutual interest in championing sustainability. If you thought that a career in sustainability was only for environmentalists, you might be surprised to find that every business now has a sustainability strategy. What's more, looking at the biggest trends in the job market into 2024, LinkedIn found that one of the fastest growing roles in the UK is Sustainability Manager.
We were therefore delighted when Ana offered the Circle's help in running a career-based event here at Concord. Working together with Circle members Bulut and Calina, and the Concord Futures team under Diane van Dongen and Sarah Boot, we devised a format which would bring together a wealth of experienced alumni who would share their expertise to inspire students and encourage them to research career choices themselves through the power of networking.
We are enormously grateful to the delegates who have offered their time, they include financiers, scientists, architects, engineers, lawyers, policy makers, IT specialists, creatives, business owners, students and environmentalists. We're looking forward to sharing the outcome after the conference which is taking place on 23rd November here at Concord.
