Christmas is coming to Concord this weekend when upwards of 2,000 visitors are expected to visit the Concord Christmas Gift and Food Fayre on campus this Sunday (November 27). As many as 80 local traders will have stalls ranging from food and festive delicacies as well as Christmas gifts.
A stallholder from Church Stretton will be giving visitors a unique opportunity to paint pottery. Bambino Bazaar ‘Pottery Fun for Everyone’, formed four years ago by proprietor Kate Tory, will be one stalls at the fifth annual Christmas Fayre.
Said Kate, who formed the business four years ago: “It is an opportunity for visitors to create their own unique gifts and decorations, from hanging Christmas trees to money boxes and ornaments.”
The Main Hall at Concord will be converted into a tea room with freshly baked home made cakes and students will perform a Christmas concert. In addition, a further hall will be devoted to gifts and homeware and another hall will include a café area and craft section.
This section will include Bambino Bazaar so that children can paint whilst parents enjoy an Indian or African curry, a hog roast, pancakes and locally produced sausage and bacon.
The fayre, which starts at 1.30 pm, will also feature tours of the campus.
Said events organiser Emily Purvis: “Students will be meeting and greeting visitors as well as helping stallholders to unload and load their wares.
“Entrance and parking are free and last year’s Christmas Fayre attracted more than 1,500 external visitors. We are hoping that this year’s event will better that.”
Stallholders will each donate a gift for a lucky dip with proceeds going to local charity The Shewsbury Ark, which provides a safe haven for homeless and vulnerable people.
