Concord alumni and staff are invited to join our former Art students at this unique London event at the renowned Crafts Council Gallery in Islington to celebrate creativity and the enduring value of art in people's lives. On Friday 30th October from 7pm we would like you to join with us (whether you consider yourself a 'scientist', an 'artist' or both) for a unique drinks and canapes reception which will include over 50 works of art from your former classmates.
You will see clothing and jewellery from world class designers, inspiring architectural models and 3D prints, ceramics, embroidery, films & digital displays, photos, prints & paintings and thought-provoking installations. All of them produced by professionals who had a Concord education, many have since won notable awards for their work, and many are also entrepreneurs running their own businesses. Check out the exhibitor list below.
You might also spot works from your former teachers too (we are still working on that!), some of whom we hope will join Mr Hudson and the Art Department team - we will publish a teacher list here as soon as we can.
There is a small £15 ticket price for those not contributing works of art that will go towards College funds. Included in the ticket price is sparking wine (+non alcoholic alternative) and delicious canapes supplied by 9Kitchens catering - a leading London sustainable caterer specialising in wonderful ethnic culinary dishes.
Date: Friday 30th October 2026
Time: 7pm to 10.30pm
Venue: The Crafts Council Gallery, 44A Pentonville Road, London, N1 9BY (nearest Tube is Angel)
Ticket Price: £15 (you are welcome to bring a partner or guest to the Reception)
*** Please share news of this event with your Concord friends, and tell your old teachers you are coming!
**** On Saturday 31st October there will be an open day from 10.30am to 4.30pm so do tell your friends, co-workers and extended family about this lovely event, they are welcome to pop in to look round.
Why does art matter? At a time when technology is transforming how we live and work, these alumni reflections offer a powerful reminder that creativity, curiosity, and human expression remain irreplaceable. We hope this exhibition encourages visitors to reflect on their own relationship with art and to consider why it matters, not only to the artists represented here, but to all of us.
We are delighted to have offers of works from these hugely talented alumni, so it will be quite a show!
