Concord celebrated its 65th anniversary with an amazing Son et Lumiere light and sound show on Saturday September 13. The spectacle featured lights, images and animations projected onto the back of the main building to depict the history of the college from 1949 to 2014.
The Son et Lumiere was accompanied by music and fireworks and watched by more than 250 guests as well as over 450 students. The event was also streamed live over the internet enabling families and friends to share in the spectacle.
Said Concord College Principal Neil Hawkins, “Concord’s Son et Lumiere was a lovely way to celebrate the college’s 65th anniversary. Just as importantly, the values of Concord and the end of the first week of a new school year.
“It was a lovely night which also saw Acton Burnell Castle and Parliament Barn illuminated – we believe for the first time in their history.
“Education is as much about fun and personal development as it is about measureable results. The day was for fun, laughter and friendship and gave us the chance to celebrate the special values and creativity that have made up Concord over the years.”
One parent wrote, “I would like to thank you for inviting us to share in your celebration. It was fantastic and such a lovely way for my son to end his first week. I am sure it will have been a great inspiration to him to make the most of this wonderful opportunity.
“It certainly made me feel very proud to be part of Concord.”
