A record number of offers to Oxford University have been made to students at Concord College. Ten sixth form students have been accepted whilst a further 12 will be taking up offers from Cambridge University.

Dr. Rob Pugh, Assistant Principal, University Entry and Careers, said in the last three years students from Concord College had received a total of 70 offers from Oxford and Cambridge against background of an increasingly demanding selection process.
The intake from this year will be studying no fewer than 14 different subjects with Concord having a first student studying Earth Sciences at Oxford and a first studying Philosophy at Cambridge.

Said Dr. Pugh:  “It has become ever more competitive to receive an Oxbridge offer.  For the first time Cambridge has introduced new admissions tests making the process even more demanding for the students.”
Said Concord Principal Neil Hawkins: “I am absolutely delighted for the 22 Concordians who have been awarded Oxbridge offers this year.   Competition for places at Oxbridge is so intense and becomes more so every year.  For each of the 22, this is a wonderful achievement.

“I am also delighted that Concord has now had seventy Oxbridge offers in the last three years, indeed, Concord’s best-ever three years for Oxbridge have been 2015, 2016 and 2017.

“This is a wonderful endorsement of the talent of our students and the skill and commitment of the staff who support them,” he added.
