Concord has achieved the highest grade, excellent, that can be awarded by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

In their report following a recent inspection of the college, the ISI – the leading UK and overseas independent school inspectorate - confirms that the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent and that the quality of pupils’ personal development is excellent in what are the only two criteria against which educational quality is measured.

The report’s key findings refer to outstanding academic achievements of pupils as shown by their attainment in public examinations and high rates of progress in lessons and independent studies.

Pupils’ attitudes to learning are said to be excellent as they are highly motivated to succeed and equally successful whether working independently or collaboratively.

The report says pupils develop outstanding study skills during their time at school and their numeracy skills are outstanding. It goes on to say that pupils strongly respect and value the rich diversity within their school community and enjoy the many opportunities to explore the cultures, backgrounds and beliefs of their fellow pupils.

Pupils understand themselves well and rapidly develop high levels of self-confidence and self-discipline which help them to improve their own learning as they prepare for the future.

The report adds that pupils are highly collaborative and many develop excellent leadership skills during their time at school. They actively seek opportunities to contribute to their school and wider community.

The report affirms that Concord is ‘compliant’ with the many regulations, including the National Minimum Standards (NMS) for boarding, that have to not only be followed but be comprehensively evidenced.

ISI inspection is for the benefit of pupils and seeks to improve the quality and effectiveness of their education and of the care for their welfare.
